Onshore student visa can be $3,200

Everyone’s talking about the $2,500 student visa fee.

That’s only half the story.

Applying for a second student visa onshore adds another $700 on top of the base charge, and it is charged per applicant, not per application.

The same catches many 485 applicants who already held a temporary visa here. It’s the Subsequent Temporary Application Charge, and it has barely rated a mention.

So a genuine student moving from one course to the next isn’t looking at $2,500. It’s $3,200, before a single card surcharge lands.

Onshore applicants should build this into their costings.
