Part of this orientation is to provide us with necessary information. This includes your USI number, address and contact information. Please upload them now.Upload file (OSHC, Passport...)Max. file size: 256 MB. 1. USI NUMBER USI Number, or Unique Student Identifier, is compulsory for your studies. Every student who has been studying in Australia after the 1st of January 2015 must obtain this number. If you have this number already, please proceed to the next step. In case you lost your number, please recover it through the government's USI website. After you have obtained or recovered your USI number, please write it down as you will need it later. Passport is required to obtain/recover your USI number. Create or recover your USI number2. Wisenet Information We use Wisenet as our student management system. All your information including contacts, invoices, timetable, course progress & attendance is being stored there. You are required to update your contact information and USI number on login. In case you change any of your contact information such as address or phone number, make sure you update the information in Wisenet as soon as possible (within 2 weeks). It is compulsory for every international student to keep the contact information up to date - if the information is outdated and we are unable to contact you directly, your visa status may be seriously affected.You are also required to provide us with 2 emergency contact details (Next of Kin) - one Australian and one overseas, preferably from your country of origin. Update your Wisenet 1. Working with Moodle Moodle is our online learning platform. It allows you to view, discuss and submit your assessments & other work. Your Moodle login details were sent into your email address. After logging in, you can view your current courses in the left menu panel under "My Courses". Clicking on the current course item (i.e.: BSB40215 Certificate IV in Business Term 3, 2016 (16T3BM4_B05P)) will direct you to your course. 2. Your course Each course is separated into 9 weeks. If you start in week 1, you will see full 9 weeks. However, if you started in week 6 (midterm), you will see only weeks 6, 7, 8 & 9. Every week appears as a collapsed section, current week is opened and labeled with red outline. All materials are separated into corresponding weeks - assessments, submission points, distance learning and resources. Trainer may add new resources to each week according to your current unit. 3. Submitting Assessments You have to submit all your assessments before the due date. The due date is always shown under the assessment's submission point altogether with the cut-off date. Remember, you will not be able to submit your assessments after the cut-off date & submitting assessments after the due date may result in strict marking or affect your progress. You are required to upload your assessment into the submission point and click the "Submit" button. This will create first version of your assessment.Version ControlAs per compliance requirements, we have to monitor your assessment progress. Each student has the option to submit 3 times. In case the first assessment you submitted is not satisfactory, you will receive second attempt. If the second attempt is not satisfactory either, you will receive your third and last attempt. As a result of failing the assessment 3 times in a row or not submitting the assessment, your final outcome will show not-satisfactory progress - you will be charged for resubmission of your assessment/s.Trainer's CommentsEach version of your assessment will receive a comment from your trainer. This will help you to achieve a satisfactory grade.GradesYou can receive 4 different grades:F - you failed your assessment due to identified plagiarism. In this case, you do not have the option to submit second version of assessment and your case will be forwarded to the Student Support Officer for evaluation.DNS - you failed to submit your assessment.NS - your assessment is not satisfactory, you have to amend & resubmit your assessment. S - your assessment is satisfactory, no further input required.Whenever you receive a grade, you will be notified in your email inbox, so please make sure you check your inbox on regular basis! 4. Distance Learning Distance learning is your weekly online learning that has to be completed outside your face-to-face sessions. You have to submit your distance learning submission weekly before Sunday, 11:55pm. Distance learning cannot be resubmitted after the due date or outside the DL's current week. You can resubmit only in case the learning system - Moodle was not accessible or similar and every case will be reviewed by Moodle admin before you are allowed to resubmit. Using your Google Apps account City Institute is using Google apps for student mailing and file management. You have received your login details from us before the orientation. Make sure you check your inbox on regular basis as all the important information and updates about City Institute and your progress will be sent directly there.City Institute takes no responsibility for any fees or issues that occurred due to lack of student's activity. Be responsible and check your mails regularly! Using Google Drive Google Drive is useful tool for storing your documents. We strongly advise you to store and work on your documents online - using Google Drive and Google Docs. All computers at City Institute use secure-wipe process, where all documents stored on the computer get deleted after restart. This is a precautionary measurement to keep your files safe and to minimise plagiarism.Also, storing your files in Google Drive means you can access them from any device you own - your mobile phone, tablet, laptop and computer, which helps you with management and you are no longer required to download your documents to flashdrive or similar device.City Institute takes no responsibility for any lost/deleted assessments. Using Google Docs Google Docs is our suggested tool to use when working on your assessments. In short - Google Docs is online version of Microsoft's Office. All your work is being saved automatically, you have wide range of tools that can be used and much much more. We prepared some documentation on how to work with Google Docs in case you are not familiar. For more questions, please ask your supervisor or trainer. Academic misconduct is defined as an attempt by student to cheat, plagiarise, or act dishonestly in any way. What is the consequence for student's academic misconduct? Student will be reported to the Student Support Officer who will investigate the situation and decide a possible penalty. You will have to resubmit all your assessments. Your visa will be automatically cancelled. Nortwest may penalise students for academic misconduct. Complaints and appeals should be submitted by: Filling out the online Complaints and Appeals form available on Nortwest's website. Complaints via mail are ok.
