They must be an Australian citizen who has known you for more than one year, not an immediate family member, and is a professional in an occupation listed on page 1-2 of Form 1195. It is suggested that you contact your doctor, dentist, accountant as it is likely that someone in one of these professions will meet the requirements. Police Clearances Police clearances are valid only for 12 months from date of issue. As the processing time for citizenship is over a year, I suggest that you wait at least 8 months until you apply for these clearances. I will contact you when Immigration has requested your interview. You must obtain police clearances if you have spent more than 12 months overseas since obtaining your Australian PR. You must provide a police clearance from each country that you have spent more than 90 days.
