{"id":17114,"date":"2026-02-17T10:26:10","date_gmt":"2026-02-17T10:26:10","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/www.educli.com\/resources\/?p=17114"},"modified":"2026-02-18T00:38:49","modified_gmt":"2026-02-18T00:38:49","slug":"visa-refusal-gibberish-continues","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.educli.com\/resources\/visa-refusal-gibberish-continues\/","title":{"rendered":"Visa refusal gibberish continues"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>For amusement (and professional frustration), here\u2019s an extract from a student visa refusal that manages to <strong>agree with the applicant\u2026 and then refuse them anyway<\/strong>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cThe applicant has provided reasonable reasons for undertaking study in Australia, including the value of studying ELICOS in an English-speaking country.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So far, so good.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cI note the immediate family members of the applicant will remain in their home country while they study in Australia and place some weight on that in favour of the applicant.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Still positive.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhile I note the applicant has provided some evidence of funds \u2026 financial sponsor\u2019s income does not satisfy me that they would have been able to accumulate such a large amount of funds. On this basis, I consider that the significant cost of the course is unlikely to be offset by the potential income derived by the applicant in their expected employment field.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Pause.<br><br>We\u2019ve now shifted from <strong>funds available<\/strong> to <strong>hypothetical future income<\/strong>, which is\u2026 not actually the test.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cWhile I accept that the applicant is currently enrolled in a bachelor\u2019s degree, the evidence provided indicates that they have only recently commenced this course, in 2025. Thus, I am satisfied that they have not yet made a major investment in time and effort that would represent a significant incentive to return and resume this course.\u201d<\/em><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>So enrolling is\u2026 bad?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><em>\u201cTherefore, I am unable to be satisfied that the applicant has strong educational ties to their home country.
