Tests taken prior remain valid within standard timeframes.<a href=\"https:\/\/www.legislation.gov.au\/F2025L00905\/asmade\"> Link to the full legislative instrument<\/a>.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>1. New approved tests <\/strong>&#8211; Australia now formalised its acceptance of a broader range of English language tests for visa applications:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Cambridge C1 Advanced (C1 Advanced)<br>CELPIP General<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>IELTS Academic &amp; General Training (including IELTS One Skill Retake)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LANGUAGECERT Academic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Michigan English Test (MET)<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>OET<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>PTE Academic<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>TOEFL iBT<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>2. PTE Academic update:<\/strong> The revised PTE Academic also introduces two new speaking tasks\u2014\u201cSummarise Group Discussion\u201d and \u201cRespond to a Situation\u201d\u2014and now takes approximately 2 hours and 15 minutes. This aims to better assess real-world communication skills. Also the proficiency levels have increased:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Superior English: <\/strong>Listening: 69, Reading: 70, Writing: 85, Speaking: 88<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Proficient English: <\/strong>Listening: 58, Reading: 59, Writing: 69, Speaking: 76<br><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Why strong English proficiency matters<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<p>Success in VET or higher education relies heavily on comprehension, participation, and academic performance.
