Our reputation as a leading education destination is already under pressure. Do we want to <strong>discourage top global talent<\/strong>, put universities under financial strain, and potentially <strong>shift students to more welcoming countries<\/strong> like Canada or the UK?<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>But let\u2019s look at the facts:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>International education is Australia\u2019s 4th largest export<\/strong>, contributing over <strong>$48 billion<\/strong> to the economy and supporting more than <strong>250,000 jobs<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>LNP\u2019s cap could cost the economy <strong>$5.8 billion<\/strong> and result in the <strong>loss of 22,000 jobs<\/strong>, according to Universities Australia.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Studies, including those from the Property Council and the University of South Australia, show <strong>no clear link between student numbers and rent increases<\/strong>.<br><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Student Accommodation Council<\/strong> confirms purpose-built student housing has minimal impact on the broader rental market.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p>We need serious housing policy, not scapegoating.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Let\u2019s invest in real solutions<\/strong>: more housing, better urban planning, and continued support for a thriving international education sector that benefits all Australians.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>What\u2019s your take on the announcement?
