These changes primarily address <\/span><b>Graduate Certificates<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> and <\/span><b>Graduate Diplomas<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> under the <\/span><b>Post-Higher Education Work (PHEW) stream<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, ensuring alignment with the Migration Strategy&#8217;s intent.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Changes took effect <\/span><b>14 December 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>No transitional arrangements<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> exist in the new regulations.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">For TGV applications lodged <\/span><b>prior to 14 December 2024<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, Graduate Diplomas (regardless of relevance) <\/span><b>will remain eligible<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><b>Key Changes:<\/b><\/h3>\n<p><b>Graduate Certificates<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Graduate Certificates will <\/span><b>no longer qualify<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> for the PHEW stream of the TGV.<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Why?<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> These courses are often short and carry a low study load, creating confusion for students and agents.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Impact:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Students completing a Graduate Certificate will need to lodge a TGV application <\/span><b>within six months<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> of completing an <\/span><b>eligible qualification<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to meet visa requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> If you finish a Graduate Certificate in IT after a Bachelor\u2019s degree, the Graduate Certificate alone will not be considered for a TGV.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>Graduate Diplomas<\/b><b><br \/>\n<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Graduate Diplomas will remain eligible <\/span><b>if they meet the following conditions<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are <\/span><b>preceded<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> by an Australian-awarded <\/span><b>Bachelor, Master\u2019s, or PhD<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, and<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">They are <\/span><b>related<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> to the preceding degree and commenced within the same or next academic year.<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><b>Example:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> A student who completes a Bachelor of Accounting and pursues a Graduate Diploma in Finance within the next academic year will meet the eligibility requirements.<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p><b>IMPORTANT:<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> unrelated Graduate Diplomas (e.g., a Graduate Diploma in Design after a Bachelor in Engineering) <\/span><b>will not count<\/b><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> as qualifying study for a TGV.
