Providers who are still using paper forms to manage student information should formulate a strategy to move to digital records as soon as possible. By starting the shift to electronic record keeping immediately, RTOs can be ready for these future requirements.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><b>Lack of access to information affecting Australian productivity<\/b><\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to a study done among Australian companies, professionals lose two hours each week attempting to find the correct information internally, which has an effect on the level of service they provide to customers. <\/span><a href=\"https:\/\/www.businesswire.com\/news\/home\/20191009005164\/en\/Over-50-Percent-of-Knowledge-Workers-Cannot-Find-the-Information-They-Need-at-Work-National-Survey-Finds\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The Workplace Productivity and Knowledge Management Survey<\/span><\/a><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">, based on more than 2,000 responses from individuals working in mid-market and enterprise organisations.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">According to the survey, 26% of people can&#8217;t find the information they need to do their jobs effectively on the systems they use, and 16% aren&#8217;t able to locate the right expert internally. Moreover, 26% are held back by information not being shared in a central place. Employees also say that a few experts within their organisation hold most of the information about the company (67%), but they can&#8217;t always contact them.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">The survey explains that not being able to access the right information has impacted businesses in several ways:<\/span><\/p>\n<ul>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Employees working longer hours to complete work 44%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Slow resolution of problems 38%<\/span><\/li>\n<li style=\"font-weight: 400;\" aria-level=\"1\"><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Inaccurate information used 31%<\/span><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">In addition, the data was analysed into age groups and the size of the organisation. When asked which channel they would respond to the quickest, millennial workers said email (27%), followed by phone (43%), and then online chat (11%). On the other hand, baby boomers preferred phone (77%) followed by email (37%).<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">Large organisations have reported that the problem has become more severe as a result of their expansion. When large organisations have these kinds of tools in place, they are able to guarantee that all of their employees have access to the appropriate information at the precise moment that they require it and that they are able to communicate with the appropriate subject matter expert through any channel.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;Organisations are getting more complex, with people often spread across many locations and time zones, making it harder for teams to collaborate, share, and learn from each other,&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> says Brendan Maree, vice president of Asia Pacific at 8&#215;8. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;In addition, only a small portion of a company&#8217;s staff holds the majority of the expertise, which, as this study shows, stands in the way of delivering excellent customer service,&#8221; <\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">he explains.<\/span><\/p>\n<p>&nbsp;<\/p>\n<p><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;One solution is to use a single cloud communications platform, enabling teams and individuals to collaborate much more efficiently since all employees can access information faster, no matter what channel they use,&#8221;<\/span><\/i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\"> Maree says. <\/span><i><span style=\"font-weight: 400;\">&#8220;This will also foster a culture of innovation, which can have a tremendous impact on job satisfaction and loyalty.
