English test results to be reported in PRISMS

Recent amendments to the ESOS Regulations will require providers to submit English test score IDs where:

  • An English test is required under the Migration Regulations 1994, and
  • The student has undertaken that test.

The Department has indicated that PRISMS will be updated in April 2026, and from that point providers will be expected to supply test score IDs.

Why this matters:
This is another step away from “documents on file” and towards data management by the Immigration and Education Departments.

English Tests Score IDs allow:

  • Direct traceability of results
  • Easier validation
  • Identification of inconsistent admissions practices

Why could this be a risk?

Many providers still rely on:

  • PDFs supplied by agents
  • Screenshots without source verification
  • Informal admissions judgments around when English is or isn’t required

Once PRISMS requires a score ID, those gaps will be verifiable.

Our advice ahead of April 2026:

  • Update admissions checklists and agent instructions
  • Ensure PRISMS data entry responsibility is clearly assigned
  • Treat English evidence as compliance data, not just an admissions formality

Like agent commissions, this change adds another compliance layer. Providers who prepare early will experience minimal disruption.
